According to Fiorelli in PAH, II, (p.316) –
“10th September 1835. And in the floor of the
small room on the left, near to the left corner at the head of the same
tablinum, we have discovered a second mosaic, sized 18.16 inches squared (0.46m
squared) or in italian “pal. 1 ¾ x 1 ¾” showing two cocks having a quarrel, one
being injured, his owner stands dejected, while the owner of the victorious
cock happily holds out a wreath/crown, as he is handed a palm leaf.”
