VI.10.11 Pompeii. March 2009. Room 16, north-west corner of oecus/triclinium. According to Costantino, this room was a triclinium and would have had a floor of opus sectile containing slabs of marble which would have been the same as in the zoccolo. These were not present, perhaps they had been removed prior to the eruption and had not yet been re-applied. The preparation for their insertion again could be seen in the north-west corner of the room. The IVth style decoration was preserved only on the east and west walls of the room. The north and south walls contained two vast doorway entrances, which took up most of their walls.
