HGW04 Pompeii. May 2006. On the seat is the Latin inscription: MAMIAE P F SACERDOTI PVBLICAE LOCVS SEPVLT DATVS DECVRIONVM DECRETO. According to Epigraphik-Datenbank Clauss/Slaby (See www.manfredclauss.de) this reads Mamiae(!) P(ubli) f(iliae) sacerdoti publicae locus sepultur(ae) datus decurionum decreto [CIL X 998] According to Cooley this translates as To Mamia, daughter of Publius, public priestess, a place for burial was given by decree of the town councillors.
