According to Boyce,
six steps lead down to the servants’ quarters, and in the wall beside this stair
was a “piccolo larario”.
This was apparently
only a niche, in which a statuette of Minerva was found.
See Boyce G. K., 1937.
Corpus of the Lararia of Pompeii. Rome: MAAR 14. (p.97, no.476)
Another niche, with a
painting of the figure of Fortuna with cornucopia and rudder, was reported as
being found in the Villa.
See PAH, I, I, 273,
dated May 1, 1773. However the location was uncertain.
PAH says that it was
in the entrance to a courtyard with a small room, and there was a painting of
Fortuna in a small niche in the same room.
See Boyce G. K., 1937.
