Della Corte surmised that these steps led to the rooms of the society of makers and sellers of unguents and perfumes. Found on the wall at the side of the stairs was CIL IV 609 in support of the candidate Verus – 
Unguentari facite rog(amus)  Another electoral recommendation that he could read, he published for the first time –
Modestum Aed
(Unguen)tari et Pauper(es) facite
