![VII.8 Pompeii Forum. September 2005. South side, looking west. The double row of columns formed the colonnade of Popidius. Near the south-east corner a Latin inscription was found: V[ibius] Popidius Ep[idii] f[ilius] q[aestor] porticus faciendas coeravit. “Vibius Popidius, the son of Epidius, when quaestor caused this colonnade to be erected”.

According to Mau, the four monuments arranged in
a group with the arched monument at the centre were of the imperial family.
