According to Mazois, on examining the debris of the architrave and the capitals, one could clearly see that originally the Portico would have been constructed in the Doric order. After the earthquake, the stucco was altered to become Corinthian. See Mazois, F., 1838. Les Ruines de Pompei : Quatrième Partie. Paris : Didot Frères, pl. XXI, and p. 41-2.
