VII.7.5 Pompeii, May 2018. Oecus m, west wall in north-west corner.
It is just possible to glimpse a female figure holding a plate of offerings in her left hand, on the black panel.
This would have been above a high zoccolo with panels of false painted marble.

VII.7.5 Pompeii. Oecus (m). 1871 drawing of painting of Hermaphrodite by Nicola La Volpe.
The drawing depicts Hermaphrodite naked, standing, with robe wrapped around the left arm that falls on the leg, intently looking at himself in a mirror.
The left arm stretches over the head and the right arm rests on the head of a statue of a bearded Pan, who is dressed in long chiton and with a thyrsus in his left hand.

See Giornale degli Scavi NS2 1873 no. 19, p. 372.
According to Trendelenburg, the mirror is unusual in not having a handle but being held by the hand through a strap across its back.
