VI.10.1 Pompeii. March 2009. Rear room on north side. Fresco on south wall. A man in a yellow tunic and blue pallium (cloak) holds a cup with both hands. A man in brown tunic is walking across with a jug. According to Helbig, scratched above one man is ADde CAliceM SetinUM and above the other IIAVI (possibly HAVE) (CIL IV 1292). See Helbig, W., 1868. Wandgemälde der vom Vesuv verschütteten Städte Campaniens. Leipzig: Breitkopf und Härtel. (1504; p369).
According to Cooley, graffiti was written in the picture above people’s heads, as if they were speaking. She says this showed a man in a toga holding out his cup for a refill and saying “Another cup of Setinian (wine)” See Cooley, A. and M.G.L., 2004. Pompeii : A Sourcebook. London : Routledge. (p.162, CIL IV 1292)
According to Epigraphik-Datenbank Clauss/Slaby (See www.manfredclauss.de) CIL IV 1292 read as –

“Da fridam pusillum” (CIL IV 1291) has been inscribed on the picture.

She says this showed a soldier being served wine by a slave and he was saying “Give a drop of cold”. See Cooley, A. and M.G.L., 2004. Pompeii : A Sourcebook. London : Routledge. (p.162, CIL IV 1291)
