VI.5.3 Pompeii. December 2007. Room 20, niche in west wall. According to Boyce, in the room opening off the south-west corner of the atrium, in the west wall opposite the entrance door, is an arched niche. This is set high up in the wall. Its interior walls were painted with green plants on a white background. The niche is made to stand out from the decoration of the walls of the room, for it is set across the line which divides the lower panels, which are alternating red and yellow, from the upper register, which is white. See Boyce G. K., 1937. Corpus of the Lararia of Pompeii. Rome: MAAR 14. (p.46, no.152)
