VI.1.10 Pompeii. December 2007. Room 11, east wall with latrine and hearth, and south-east corner of kitchen. In the upper zone was the figure of the Genius, pouring a libation on an altar, to the right of him stood a small Camillus.
On each side of this central group was an indistinct figure. Above this zone are two other indistinct figures. In the lower zone were the two serpents confronted at an altar. See Boyce G. K., 1937. Corpus of the Lararia of Pompeii. Rome: MAAR 14. (p.43, no.135)
According to Giacobello, in the south corner of the kitchen a lararium painting was found upon excavation, but in a bad condition. It is no longer conserved, but drawn by Piranesi. Nissen referred to the existence of a niche near the hearth, no longer visible by Boyce’s time.
