I.5.1 Pompeii. December 2006. Remains of portico or structure outside the entrance. Looking east along north side of I.5. This area was badly damaged by a bomb falling onto the north-west corner of this insula, during the night between 14th and 15th September 1943. The pedestrian bridge formed by a large piece of Sarno stone, between insula I.5 and I.2 was demolished. It also demolished the west pilaster and part of the east wall of the vestibule of entrance number I.5.1. See Garcia y Garcia, L., 2006. Danni di guerra a Pompei. Rome: L’Erma di Bretschneider.
