have been a separate stairs to an upper dwelling and workshop.
Beneath the stairs
would have been a latrine.

According to Fiorelli,
this caupona was very ruined when excavated.
On the left of the
photo would have been a hearth, and on the right, near the wall would have been
a cistern-mouth for the well.
