VIII.7.28 Pompeii.  Marble statue of Venus Anadiomene (Venus drying her hair after a bath).   Venus in the Roman world was often identified with Isis.
Originally found with well preserved painting and gilding.  Found against the west wall of the portico in the south west corner.  Now in Naples Archaeological Museum.

VIII.7.28 Pompeii. Statue of Bacchus (Dionysus) with his panther.  The inscription engraved on the base informs us that the figure was a votive gift from Numerio Popidio Ampliato, father of Popidio Celsino, that restored the Temple with his money.  Claudian. From the niche in the back wall of the temple Cella.   Dionysus was identified with the Egyptian god Osiris. Now in Naples Archaeological Museum.

Popidi Ampliati, N. Popidi Celsini and Corelia Celsa, the donators, were father, son and mother.
